There is some a bit grubby, wholly unpretentious and often fun about food at ports that reflects the whole atmosphere of the place isn’t there? I had some chargrilled corn-on-the-cobs somewhere very close to where this picture was taken once. Crispy with salt crystals. I ate it on the boat across the Bosphorous and it was living.

I bought the bag of chesnuts and nibbled on them across the Bosphorus too. I love the way the boy was so sweet and took real pride in having those chesnuts laid out ‘just so’.
We can all learn a thing or two from the chesnut boy
