"feed me, I starve"

Exotic Balinese fruit

Beautiful to the eye is our ethos here at Growling Belly, and our fine friend Heath Rudduck has kindly offered to share some of his most exquisite foodie moments with us. Recently in Bali, he caught the colours and forms of the exotic. (Note to self, next trip to Oz will stop-over in Bali!)

rambutan

A rambutan can either have a deep red or bright yellow leathery skin with tiny spikey green tipped curly hairs extending from the surface. Its flesh is translucent, delicately fragranced with an excellently sweet sharp flavour. Divine eaten fresh in your hand as a delicate snack on a hot hot day.

Exotic Balinese fruit

Bananas have merged into Balinese daily life and become a necessity whether for ceremonial purposes or simply as a delicious base for a meal. They’re usually grown on the backyard of a house, as a matter of fact. Sweet and dense they are more delicious than the imported standard European fare we’re used to.

Heath. These are lush images. They make me want to hop on a plane and wander a Balinese street market asap!
